Have PPIs *stopped* working for you?

The reason I ask, is that I've tried both Prilosec and Protonix for my LPR and when I first start out on each drug they work quickly, and within a day I start to feel better, and within a week or two I'm mostly asymptomatic. But after a while, like 6-12 months, they stop working and my terrible sore throat returns. So I switch back to the other drug and once again, same thing. I've switched back and forth between those 2 PPIs 4 times now over the past 2.5 years.

The thing is, my Gastroenterologist tells me there isn't any reason to believe these drugs build up a tolerance, nothing supported by studies anyway. Yet I've seen a couple other posts on this board from people who say that their PPI has "stopped working". It seems like we are having the same experience.

If you have had similar experiences with PPIs would you please reply to this thread and let me know? Thanks.
