I know stomach problems and heart issues can have many of the same symptoms. Can anyone give any insight on how one can know the difference?

Because the symptoms are so similiar, the only way to be sure is to have your heart checked out. I've made many trips to the ER to be sure and doubled checked everything with a cardiologist. Hope that helps.

I too agree that the only sure way to know is to have it checked. I also made many trips to the ER because I swore I was having a heart attack. After many tests and ekg's, it was actually a hiatal hernia and the acid reflux causing the pain. But all the dr's I dealt with in the ER told me it was good that I came in, and even though I am only 25, heart problems are nothing to overlook, or wait and see with. So you're best bet would be a dr or and ER if it was late or really bad.

I have done the same thing. I have gone to the ER a few times and ended up in the hospital overnight with the burning, the pain, nausea, etc. I've been advised by my Drs. that it is wiser to have it checked out than to wait at home and see if the pain will go away.
