| is it GERD... only symptom is burping up at night.
I used to have heartburn, and I controlled it with antacids. Then I started burping up acid and breathing it in while I was sleeping. Not pleasant. I have been on Losec and I am currently on Nexium, and I have not had heartburn in years... but still, I can't eat for at least two hours before I go to sleep or I will burp acid into my mouth while I'm asleep. This happens about two hours after I've gone to sleep. I can nap for about an hour after eating and have no problem, but much longer than that and I risk waking up with a mouth full of acid (and possibly having breathed it in).
Is it possible for this to be GERD if I have no heartburn or other symptoms? I had a barium X-ray of my stomach and they said it looked fine. Is there something else that might cause this?
I sleep with the head of my bed raised, and I take my Nexium before my last meal of the day. I'd appreciate any insight you guys can offer.
