Is it worth to try Naturopathic Medicine doctor? -Ask your opinion.
Hi all,
I am deciding whether I need to see Naturopathic medicine doctor or not. My GI doctor said to me that you'll not get any help from naturopathic treatment.
I called the naturopathic medicine doctor about the price and the first visit is $325. I just wonder anybody has sucess story with naturopathic doctor?
Is it worth a try? Do supplements have side effects too?
BTW, which one you trust more --naturopathic medicine doctor vs. Chinese medicine doctor?

Yes, supplements have side effects and you can get toxic from too much just like other medications. I would see a naturopathic doctor as I'm looking for any and all options. It's expensive but probably worth it.

I think if it's someone trained as a holistic Dr. then why not try it? Many people get success for their ailments from them. Obviously the conventional Dr's aren't helping most of us so why not try an alternative?
If you have success maybe there is hope for the rest of us

Hi all here is my 2 cents . If your L.E.S. valve is bad in your stomach then I don't see how he will help. From what i read you can't fix the L.E.S valve with meds. You can only control the amount of acid in your stomach. I have not read any testimonials that i believe to be true from anyone saying they went to a Naturopathic Doc and they were cured. If the Naturopathic Doc were helping people with major problems I would think the word would get around. There are alot of people that dont mind taking your hard earned money and give you false hope, I think these type of people should be arrested and put in jail. What next? Benny Hinn the faith healer? but if you got alot of money what the heck , good luck to you all I hope we all beat this stuff.

Real naturopathic doctors went to a special type of medical school for 4 years. Their specialty is getting alternative and conventional medical treatments to work together. It probably won't be a radical change, it might improve your quality of life. Best way to find out who's a good alternative medicine practitioner? Get recommendations from other patients.

Its true that naturopathic doctors may or may not be able to help with reflux issues, but then regular doctors don't seem to have much success either (just read this board). Yet we don't seem to be as critical of them even though their success rate is pretty poor for these conditions and moreover the drugs they prescribe cause all sorts of potentially serious side effects.
I did go to a naturopathic doctor and she told me at the outset that she did not have much experience with reflux. She did put me on the path to better nutrition however and overall I think I felt about 30 to 40 percent better after her treatment. Frankly that's 40 percent better than my GI was able to do, and I didn't get the judgment and the "Oh, you're just overly anxious" thrown in for free.
