LPR and Post Nasal Drip Sufferer!!!! Please help!! - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Hi!

I live in Canada and have had LPR for quite some time and I can never get rid of the thick mucous in my throat, which I believe to be because of post-nasal drip. My nose is always running, I have headaches, my throat starts to hurt after I've been talking, I burp constantly, and when I tilt my head back I can feel a concentrated amount of mucous at the back of my throat.

Please!! Does anyone have a medicine that they've used, that dramatically helped their post-nasal drip?? I'm going to university next year, and this is dramatically effecting my life!

Hi-have you had any testing done with a gastro doc? You may want to start getting some test run to see if you have a hernia or bad reflux that could possibly be helped with surgery or something. If it's not any of this, then it sure sounds like you could have some bad allergies. You could consult with an allergist too, but I would see the Gastro doc first maybe. That's the road I'm on right now. I know it's frustrating.

anonymous-- I've been having the same exact problems. My throat/esph. feels full of air in the morning because of post nasal drip. I can't cough or burp it out. When I talk for long periods of time, I get breathless and my throat get sore. Have you been diagnosed with LPR? I'm just starting testing. I started Protonix yesterday. I'm hoping it helps, but I think it might do more for heartburn than for the bloated/air pressure feeling in my throat.

No medicine.. just surgery. I had an extensive ENT complete endoscopic sinus surgery. Where all but 49% of my main sinus cavities membranes were removed.. in conjuntion with some structural modifications. Needless to say.. PND, reflux, allergic rhinitus and chronic sinusitus are all manageable to non-existant.
