Acidic Mouth- how to treat?

Hi everyone - I am fairly new to this board. I began having GERD issues about 3 months ago. My doctor has me on a six week prescription of protonix -

Protonix has worked for the most part, however, about every 7-8 days, I get the symptoms back and then they go away - although they aren't as severe as they were before. Today I have kind of a burning mouth/acidic taste. Does anyone know what to do to get rid of that?? It bugs the heck out of me.

Rinse your mouth with a tsp of baking soda in 4 oz of water. Swish it around your mouth. That will neutralize the acid. Do it every hour every day for one to two weeks. It has helped me.

Yeah do what Mike says, I had the same problem about 6 weeks ago and followed what he said (as much as I could). I now use baking soda with my toothpaste in the morning and night and swish it around, this has pretty much stopped the acid mouth, tongue.

Re: Acidic Mouth- how to treat?

Thanks guys - I'll try it. Do you know why I'm getting this?? Afterall, I am taking protonix - are the meds just not being totally effective?

Re: Acidic Mouth- how to treat?

Their a dead end in my opinion. I'm working on fixing my GERD right now, but it's a tough nut to crack. Though I'm currently not taking any medication and getting by much better then when I was taking PPI's.
