Re: Real Sore Throat vs. GERD sore throat
I am wondering the same thing. This last episode of reflux began while my daughter was sick. I chalked up the sore throat to that at first, but when I became conscious that I was refluxing at night I realized it was either the reflux or a combination. It has been a month now on Prilosec and I still (or again?) have this flaming red sore throat that goes up toward the roof of my mouth. To complicate things, I think I was feeling better but then (ah, life with a toddler) she got a cold and I believe I really did get another sore throat. That was about a week ago, though, and I don't remember viral sore throats lasting that long.
I wonder if a really raw throat from gerd just takes forever to heal and that on top of that, true sore throats are much worse since the tissue is also inflamed. I plan to ask my dr next time.
Are your lymph nodes also swollen? Mine continued to be the whole time, but got worse after I got that last cold.
