Here's how I got rid of my bad breath. I suffered with it for the past 8-10 years and have researched it heavily for probably the last 6 before I found a regiment that works. I had all the classic symptoms-- white tongue, metallic taste, horrendous morning breath that wouldn't go away. I also tried everything. All that Therabreath stuff is a bunch of hooplah. Hydrogen Peroxide works in the short term but tastes absolutely horrible.

I also had a deviated septum and enlarged turbinates, so I went to a Ear Nose and Throat surgeon and had them fixed. OK, this alone does not solve the problem. However here are some other things that I also did that I believe work without having to get surgery.

1. I quit smoking (very easy to do for the sake of bad breath)
2. I take a High Potency (4 Billion) Acidophilus once a day (I just ******d it and bought it off the net)
3. I sinus rinse through my nose with a plastic squeeze bottle (probably $5 at CVS), twice a day with a NON-Iodized warm salt water solution. Some people on these boards use Hydrogen Peroxide mixed in with the solution, but I am leary of shooting that through my sinuses on a daily basis.
4. Obviously, brush 2x a day and floss once. I use a simple baking soda and peroxide toothpaste by Arm and Hammer because I heard a lot of the sweet tasting ones actually make your breath worse.
5. Steer clear of Alcohol based mouthwashes, they dry your mouth out.
6. Gum is fine, just make sure it is sugarless.

I would say that the Sinus rinses with warm salt water and the Acidophilus are the way to go. I noticed that when I was on antibiotics after my surgery, my bad breath was gone. When I finished the antibiotics, it came back. So I figured the bacteria in my mouth or in my stomach was the main culprit for the bad breath. Because it is not feasible (or healthy) to take antibiotics 24/7 I figured why wouldn't a probiotic help just as much? I must concede, however, because I am not a doctor, that I'm not 100% certain of the efficacy of the Acidophilus, but as of right now I'm going to keep doing this regiment because it is working surprisingly well. I hope whoever reads this tries this advice because it certainly worked for me, when all else hadn't.
