Hello,

There was a press release by Health Canada on August 9th. Apparently, it is reviewing new safety information on cardiac events in patients taking Losec (Omeprazol) or Nexium.
Two previous studies about the long term effects of these drugs are being analysed. The analysis will be completed by the end of the year.
Preliminary review suggests that evidence does not confirm the existence of a possible cardiovascular risk. I know the FDA is taking a similar action in regard to these drugs. It is recommended (for now) that the evolving safety information should not change prescribing practices at this time.

I've just been started on Nexium. How serious could this turn out to be? This sure has me wondering....Any thoughts?

I heard from another post awhile ago that nexium caused pancreatidis (not sure of spelling). I just posted that I finally got off of it after 5 years and now I am on the ACV remedy and it has worked great.

For me, I'm not going to wait until they get the results.

Do you mean apple cider vinegar? The pure organic version, right? How do you take it? How much, and do you find it works as well for you as the Nexium did (if indeed it did during the five years

). What do you take ACV for? GERD?

Hello,

here's an update regarding the Nexium deal.

On August 9th, the FDA issued a LIMITED all clear. It would seem that the drugs' maker, Astra-Zeneca, had kindly supplied more information for the FDA's examination. The analysis of data was carried out frantically over nine weeks, May 29th through the end of July.

This was in the press release: Based on everything we know now, FDA's preliminary conclusion is that the observed difference in risk of heart attacks and other heart related problems seen in early analysis of the two small long-term studies is not a true effect.

Final report (FDA) will be issued in three months.
Health Canada has also set the end of the year as the due date for its report.

What this means to me is that now I have to locate the two studies in question, read and re-read them and form my own opinion. I'll take if from there.
