Voice Problems Due to LPR - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I've had LPR for almost 10 yrs and have symptoms daily as in every single day.
The chronic cough, I can control sometime for the most part. The worst thing is that if I do a lot such as house cleaning, yard work (any bending & lifting) I cough constantly. I suppose this in return makes me lose my voice or to be very hoarse for weeks and months at a time. I probably couldn't get another job due to this. When all this happens at times I become really sick and must stay home a day or so. All that will get me better is complete rest.
I feel I must cough to relieve mucus and pressure in my sinus area? Right side of my nose to my throat has a full feeling. Does anyone else have voice problems that don't go away? Even when I sound better, I'm still hoarse or breathy and do run out of breath even just talking. LPR has caused me so many problems and I'm so glad I found this board that relates just to this because it's so different from regular GERD. I just want to slap anyone that say's, "I take the purple pill and have no problems now."

I am very hoarse in the morning and sometimes if I laugh and talk for a long period of time. I have the full feeling in my ear and throat on the left side. I am on the "purple miracle pill" and it has done nothing for me.

Hi,

I have a hoarse voice every day all day too I have reflux as well & also have asthma. But I dont know if its to do with my asthma preventer side effects which you can get a hoarse voice. reflux can give you a hoarse voice too.
I've been like this for 2 years now since being diagnosed with reflux & asthma.

Everytime I talk to people on the phone or in person they say 'I sound terrible like I have a cold or am very sick.'

My dad has asthma and uses inhalers daily. He has a very hoarse voice which is a side effect of the inhalers.

have you looked into speech therapy?? My ENT is sending me for an evaluation because I am a singer with LPR. It is worth looking into for chronic laryngitis.
