What can I do for the ear pain?

For those who suffer from ear pain, have you found anything that relieves the pain for awhile? Sometimes the pain in my left ear is so bad I feel like I am getting dizzy. I have tried over the counter pain meds and also Naprosyn, OTC ear drops, a heating pad.............. nothing seems to help. I have noticed that chewing really hard bubble gum relieves it somewhat but chewing gum gives me a headache.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

Nexium helps me when I get the ear pain.

Re: What can I do for the ear pain?

I've recently discovered that certain antacids work well for my ear problems. The one that's worked the best is baking soda and water.
Maybe you could try looking into some homemade antacid recipes. I've heard of people who take vinegar and swear that it works. I haven't tried it, yet.

A cold pack below the ear (on the jaw bone) and in front of the ear has helped me a little.

You could try an OTC oral decongestant and/or antihistamine and see if those help. They sometimes work for me.

Other than those things, I've yet to find anything that helps. Personally, I don't think OTC pain relievers work that well because I think they can make the acid reflux worse.
