| Re: How about these symptoms?
Hi Golfhat,
Yep, you have gerd. But the heart attack feeling, could be you are having esophageal spasms. As for the achalasia, it means you can't or have a hard time swallowing. I have achalasia, when they did the endoscopy, it revealed that I had no motility in the esophagus, meaning that the 3 muscles that push the food down do not work. So I now eat soft foods, no meat as it always got stuck. Been to the ER a few times to have it removed.
There are a few solutions to the problems, you can have your esophagus dialated, that is where they put a ballon like thing down your esophagus, as for the spasms, I am not sure of anything they do except for botox. I am reluctant to do that, although the pain sometimes is excruciating. I will eat soda crackers while I am having an attack, it seems to sooth the esophagus.
I also use Gaviscon tablets for the acid reflux and drink water as it seems to neutralize the acids. I also take Prevacid which does help, but not completely.
I hope you all get some help, I know how bad this stuff is.
