Barretts - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

Ok
Now I am starting to worry again. I was on another forum and a woman was just dx with Barretts at 34. I asked her how long she had GERD and she mentioned a month. I thought Barretts forms after years of GERDâ€¦.

unless she meant she was diagnosed a month ago, maybe she had the Gerd undiagnosed long before? I am worried too.

Well, everyone is different. I mean my cousin had esophagus cancer (he is now completely cancer free) and he never had acid reflux. My mom died of cancer, my other cousin had breast cancer, my friends mom had a brain tumor...etc etc. I mean come on...You absolutely CAN NOT compare yourself with others. We are all different. What about the tons of people who die of lung cancer who never smoked a cigarette? What about the marathon runner in perfect health his whole life who dies of a heart attack? Should I go on? I think you get my point. You need to chill out. Everyone is different. I have been on many different gerd boards in the past several month, and the one connection I have noticed among all is that the people all have stress, depression, anxiety issues...including myself. Worry about yourself and not others and use these boards to build your own knowledge not scare you.

Interesting Jade, as I do have an anxiety disorder- GAD- I did not realize there was a connection
