New dry cough

I have taken myself off Nexium and started taking Zantac--approx. 4 days ago and have developed a dry cough in the past two days. I wonder if this dry cough is from the Zantac or if it's from going off the Nexium? Any thoughts would be appreciated...I guess it's also possible I have a cold developing... Thanks

Re: New dry cough

My boss's wife has GERD but she has had really good luck keeping it in control with OTC Prilosec. Her only problem is a chronic dry cough. She's had it for years inspite of no other problems.

I, on the other hand, have a chronic cough but do feel mucus and cough "something" up when having bad spells. Usually after eating something I shouldn't have.

When I get cold or upper resp infections (and I do often) my first symptoms are being achey and tired (well, more than usual) along with the coughing. Maybe you should get some extra rest and drink plenty of fluids if you think a cold is coming on.

could be the acid making you cough since the Zantac is not has strong as nexium for acid control...

Re: New dry cough

KATCSR,

Hello!!! I got throat/chest tightness and a bad tickle in my throat while taking Prilosec OTC -- it took being off of it for almost 3 weeks before it went away....

Maybe its the medicine - just a thought.

Good Luck to you
