Nissan Fund. recovery time

I am going to have a nissan fundoplication done (laproscopically, unless there is an issue) to fix a Hiatal hernia and stop bile and acid reflux. Does anyone whose had it done let me know what there recovery time was. Mostly I am concerned with work, since I am a teacher and I need to write lesson plans for my substitute. I have heard 1-2 weeks at the best (to return to work) and 4-6 weeks at the worst. I only have about 2 weeks of sick leave/personal days, so I hope its the former. Any other advice about the surgery while we're on the subject. (I have read the other forums too!) I like my surgeron, he saved my grandpa's life several years back, so it's nice to have someone you trust.

Re: Nissan Fund. recovery time

I had the surgery done on October 10th and on November 9th i took a 5 hour plane trip and spent 2 weeks on vacation. So from my experience and being a retired teacher, I would give my self 3 weeks. I was sore (not a lot of pain) for a couple of weeks. The worst thing is I couldn't eat much for a week or two. Lots of liquid and soft foods. In a month I was back to full speed and 13 pounds lighter. A side benefit!
Good luck.

Re: Nissan Fund. recovery time

Thanks for the reply. I have been on a totally liquid diet for 4 months, so I think not much will change there. It was especially nice to hear from another teacher.

Re: Nissan Fund. recovery time

Monday is 3 weeks for me. Though I feel fine, can move around and do chores etc, I'm still working up very slowly with food consistancys. I can eat casseroles, etc. Thicker foods get hung up.
