Barrettes Esophagus - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I was diagnosed with Barrettes Esophagus last year. I also have a problem with narrowing of the esophagus. This past weekend I woke up with a terrible pain in the middle of my back which then went into my throat and jaw. Of coarse I immediately thought I was having a heart attach. I went to the hospital and was admitted for testing. All the tests came back normal. I asked if this could be something to do with my Barretts and was told they were not sure and that I was not admitted for this issue so I would have to follow up with my doctor. As most of you know it is hard to get into see these guys. I am not able to get in for another week. I am still having this horrible pain. It feels like I have a softball stuck in my esophagus and like an elephant is sitting on my chest.

Has anyone else had these sytoms?

My symptoms were of burning in the middle of my chest and burping up hot burps after a meal that taste bitter like when you vomit. I always thought if you had a heavy pressure sensation on your chest it was your heart. Maybe you should go back to the hospital and insist on seeing a cardiologist?
