I am a 47 year old woman, I went to my primary care doctor for severe coughing and breathing problems. He sent me to an ENT, who sent me to a pulmonalogist,who sent me to a gastrologist. who did a scope and a test that measures the reflux for a 24 hour time frame, I reflux 1075 times, he sent me to a surgeon, who performed nissan fundoplacation. I had this a year ago.
I was better for a while, off all breathing meds, no coughing, no reflux.
well now my cough is back, with reflux and an added rapid heart rate.
I am scheduled for a scope soon. But fear they will want to repeat the surgery.The surgery wasn't bad. but I don't want to have it repeatedly.
I need advice

I am so sorry for your suffering...

What type of breathing problems were you suffering from? Did the breathing medications they had you on help before you had surgery?

Do you take any PPI's right now?

I hope you can find relief without surgery SOON.

i was taking all kinds of meds for breathing, spriva, rescue inhalers, one that was a steroid, a pill for that, plus nexiun,reglan, also using a nebulizer.
that was before surgery. Now i am back on nexium, a pill that is compounded, that is not fda approved. But has had great success in Europe. Plus the med for the heart rate. I really hate to do surgery again, but the heart thing can't continue, thanks for you concern

Sorry to hear that the nissan didn't hold up for long. I know someone that had a simular situation and after the second surgery they have been much better. As severe as your symptoms sound repeating the nissan might be your best option. Keep us posted and good luck.
