| Do you have proper posture ?
Today I was looking for some information on how to improve my posture. I ran accross an article mentioning a connection between gerds and posture. Specifically "Head Forward Posture". I did a quick search on the subject and was suprise with how many hits I found on the topic. I thought this was rather interesting since I have head forward posture and my GERD syptoms started a month or so after I had severe pain cause from it.
I thought it might be interesting to hear how many of you may also have some type of posture problem that could possibly be a cause or contributing factor to your GERDs problem. How to check your posture
Stand normaly with your arms at your side looking straight ahead and have a friend look at you from the side.
If you have good posture your ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle should sit in vertical alignment. In other words if you drop a plumb line from your ear it should pass through all those points. If you have a lot of forward head posture then the imaginary plumb line will fall in front of these points. Also note the position of your thumb while your arm is relaxed at your side. If they point in toward each other instead of forward it could be a sign of rounded shoulders.
