Non Acid Reflux 24 Hour Probe Test - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I have been scheduled for a 24 hour probe test for non acid reflux. My problem is that I wake up at night choking. My doctors have explained that the reflux from my stomach is causing my vocal cords to go into spasm and that I am indeed choking and without air when this happens. I also have sleep apnea and also use oxygen at night. My doctors say the non acid reflux is a seperate problem. They have prescribed a drug called Reglan but I have had a very bad time with it. The 24 hour probe test is being called the definitive test prior to surgery. The test worrys me as I am very hypersensitive to anything in my nose or throat. Has anyone had this test.
What can I expect? Thank you.

Did you have non acid reflux? If so, did you manage to cure it ?

seems like non acid and weakly acidic reflux have no cure, i have weakly acidic according to the impedance test, it's been like 9 months now, the only "cures" i can think of are a nissen or baclofen, btw google lesogaberan is a new drug for reflux that astrazeneca (nexium ppl) is working on, is the same as baclofen but without the side effects.

Thnx for your reply. Manometry showed as if everything is normal, how could a surgery fix my non-acid reflux? I have no idea why it is happening and it is hard to believe that nothing can cure. I will lookup that drug online and read more about it.

bimik i have a normal manometry too, normal LES, except for a nonspecific motility disorder, was your manometry completely normal?

with a normal manometry you can still experience transient lower esophageal relaxations those dont show up on a manometry, there's gotta be some sort of anomaly on your GI tract though.

What are your symptoms?
