Heartburn and Pain aaaaarrrrrggggghhhhh - Acid Reflux / GERD Message Board

I have been having problems with heartburn and chest pain on and off for years, last year after a night out I woke up in the middle of the night with chest pain and reallly bad heartburn, long story short ended up in Emergency Room and had loads of tests blood, xrays and they all came back clear, I was refered to a specialist who did an endoscopy which came back sayin I had mild gastritis, I have taken Losec, Zoton and I'm currently on Nexium, all with no affect to my heartburn.

I have been taking the Nexium for 2 weeks now and my heartburn has gotten worst, the last few days have been hell, I also suffer from IBS and have had a flare up of that as well, I don't know weather I should stop taking the Nexium or keep going for another week or so. I don't have a return visit to the specialist till 20th May. Gaviscon works for me temorarily, but I'm eating them every 2 mins which can't be good.

Is there anyone out there with exsesive heartburn that has taken PPIs with no relief, why are they not reducing the ammount of acid and why are my symtoms getting worse, I'm at the end of my tetther at the moment and would appriciate any help,

I have gastritis too. I take Vitamin C Supplements 500 mg twice a day. Over time, this may help relieve the symptoms. Another help is Aloe Vera Juice. Drink two capfuls twice a day. This may help heal from the inside. Good luck. I'm still on nexium while taking these supplements.

I was just perscribed Nexium. I didn't go to the Pharmacy to pick it up though because of all the negatives I've heard. I am still curious though as it seems to work for some.
