Help! Stomach Acid inside my nose?

I had acid reflux at night and the stomach acid reached all the way up to my nose and it burns inside my nose now. Is there anyway to get rid of the acid inside my nose? How can I heal my nose from the stomach acid burning? Help? Thanks.

If the reflux stops, your nose will heal itself just fine.

To stop night time reflux, have you tried not eating late at night and elevating the head of your bed?

i heard if you leave the acid sit inside the nose for years, it can cause cancer if left untreated. I am scared.

That's if you get severe reflux every day for years. One bout of reflux isn't going to give you cancer. But if you are really concerned, buy a neti pot or saline nasal spray and rinse it out.

Re: Help! Stomach Acid inside my nose?

Having acid reflux is a sign that your/our body is too acidic and reflux is our body intelligence trying to get rid of all that acid. Just something to think about.

Having acid reach your nose isnt uncommon in reflux sufferers. I've felt it in my back, throat and just the right side of my chest. It can manifest differently for each person. Are you on any medication for reflux? Are you eating more fruits and veggies? Are you still drinking coffee, pop, alcohol, etc.? Do you smoke? Diet modification is key in dealing with this condition.

I would suggest you take some type of antacid before you retire to bed. My doc told me to take 2 spoonfuls of maalox after each meal and before bed, in addition to dexilant in the morning.

You could also try a natural approach and drink 2-3 cups of ginger tea throughout the day, it helps with digestion issues. That worked for me but made me lose weight (ginger does that) so I slowed my intake of the tea.

Hope this helps!

Re: Help! Stomach Acid inside my nose?

Ok thanks for the saline nasal spray and neti pot. I only had felt a stomach acid go up to my nose one time, but i was not sure if i have silent reflux at bedtime. How does a person elevate their head and sleep at bedtime? Does it really work?

Which PPIs work for you? Does the ginger tea burn the inside and how does it help?

Aciphex and Dexilant works/worked for me. The ginger is a little spicy but it doesn't burn and damage in the sense that the acid does. Try it out and see how it works for you. I buy the traditional medicinals brand.
