Those with Gerd - What fruits are you able to eat?

Other than apples? What are you all eating?
I think the citrusy ones are out, such as pineapple.

Can you eat grapes? Watermelon (other melon - honey dew, canteloupe)?

melon is okay. red apples are fine and so are bananas, but everyone is different. I stay out of eating fruits because i know most of them are citrus like orange.

Bananas work for many people. They are a big trigger for me though. Not sure why.

I've never had problems with the grapes or melons.

I do avoid most acidic fruits.

Re: Those with Gerd - What fruits are you able to eat?

Good day to you,
I suffer with the same problem also Oral Candida, so I have to be careful with fruit. I love every type of fruit but I stick with just the following as I read somewhere they are acceptable for my condition. (Blueberries/Raspberries and the occasional Banana) Berry fruits are allowed on the Candida diet, I have many stomach issues but have no problem with these. Good Luck. Solofelix.

Re: Those with Gerd - What fruits are you able to eat?

Its interesting that berries are allowed, I heard strawberries are a problem?

I am going to try those blueberries soon though, thanks. Im sorry that some of you cannot even eat banana. :/ Its difficult experimenting with foods, its just not good for us to do, but, what else -can- you do?

Thanks for the responses.

Re: Those with Gerd - What fruits are you able to eat?

Unfortunately, I also have Oral Allergy Syndrome... so fruits like apples, pears, peaches and plums are no good for me.

I can eat bananas, watermelon, cantaloupe and honeydew. Avocado, Lychee and mango I think are OK...though I haven't eaten any lately. I just started eating Papaya which is good for digestion and inflammation.

Mist, Im so sorry hun. Oral allergy? Is it just an allergy for certain fruits?
Its good to know that some of you are eating melon. I've been tempted to try some watermelon, and what is summer without it?

When you say Oral Allergy, do you mean Thrush (Candida)
Interesting about Papaya, must give that a try. My digestion is at( Zero ).I have Thrush in my inner cheeks of my mouth, also Gerd and all that goes with it...
Any other dietary advice is welcome.
Solofelix.

Re: Those with Gerd - What fruits are you able to eat?

Oral Allergy Syndrome often develops in people with severe tree pollen and ragweed allergies. There's some kind of allergic cross reaction that happens when I eat certain tree fruits and nuts. I will get an itchy tongue or swollen lip/inside cheek. There's no anaphylaxis....but it's still scary enough that I just avoid those fruits(raw) & nuts.

Solofelix, sorry to hear you are unwell. Last week I was nauseous EVERY DAY and had terrible stomach gnawing. My doctor prescribed me Metoclopramide HCL. I have only had to take it twice, but both times it seemed to help a lot. My stomach and appetite are doing much better this week and I find taking digestive enzymes with my meals has cut down the gassy bloated feeling.

I know this thread is about fruits...but yesterday I had mushrooms, sliced zuchinni and baby potatoes grilled in Olive oil and it was great.

Re: Those with Gerd - What fruits are you able to eat?

Hello Mind Mist,
Nice to hear from you. I will give Digestive Enzymes a try. Cant eat Mushrooms as they are a type of fungus.
It really is a Juggling act with food. What exactly are Enzymes meant to do. It would be wonderful to get rid of this bloated feeling. Solofelix.
