Hope you've been well... I am finally going for an endoscopy in less than 2 weeks. I am nervous (mostly about the sedation/memory loss), but I think I will be ok. Just wondering if anyone would like to share their endoscopy experiences, positive or negative?
And a question - would the doc be able to see and/or diagnose a throat problem from this procedure? I have been having a lumpy feeling in the right side of my throat for awhile now. ENT did a scope a few months ago, said everything looked ok, but the feeling of fullness won't go away. I don't produce a ton of mucus, but I do cough a lot, I guess mostly because it is uncomfortable. It usually feels worse in the morning, but I can always feel it there, and when I push on the area, something moves around - could this be a lymph node?
Hi! Had mine a couple of weeks ago with no problems. The sedation was light due to some problems that I have tolerating certain medications but once the "happy juice" (as the technician called it) was stuck in my hand, I didn't remember a thing until I woke up. Had no complications and no pain whatsoever. They did take some biopsies and all turned out well although I was diagnosed with Barrett's. I hope everything goes well with your procedure. I'm sure it will. They do many of these everyday. Good luck!
Hi fixed, Don't even think about it, its no problem. Ive had three of them and like the previous member said I didn't feel a thing. While you wait your turn they put an IV in your hand or arm (easy), when you go into the room where they do the procedure, you are asked to lay on your side. A thing to protect your teeth is put in your mouth, again (no problem), they then start the sedation but you wont know a thing about it because you are gone into LA LA land." Best Sleep I ever had". I think it only takes about ten minutes. When you come to in recovery, you wont remember it. I went home and had my dinner, no after effects. Good Luck, Solofelix.
PS, Dont worry about the lump you feel in your throat, the Endoscopy will reveal any nasties that might be there.
