Back with a vengence

I had two really good days. I was so optimistic. I really thought I might be getting (finally) better. I should have known better. Today, it was back in full force. Why is that? Do others go back and forth with these horrible symptoms? Today I really can't swallow anything. Even liquids are a huge problem. Feels like I've got a throatful of something that is draining from my head and yet, my throat feels so dry it's almost sticking together. I don't understand and it is so depressing to me. I am just sick (no pun intended) of complaining and feeling this way.

Any sympathetic ears out there?

Yes, there is variation. It could be due to diet or environmental factors, or it could be due to something else entirely. My personal belief is that if we knew exactly why GERD flares occur, we'd know why the disease happens in the first place!

Re: Back with a vengence

Hi, today is a bad day for me also with my AR/GERD. I have a lump in my throat like a
Golfball so I know how you feel.
Its back to Baby food again!.. As to why it keeps repeating itself I dont have a clue, I do know not to get too excited if you are lucky enough to get a couple of good days.
Could some of this lump in the throat be Cataarh, Ive never heard anyone mention this before. Good Luck Every One, Solofelix.

Re: Back with a vengence

I have had this for nearly three years. Started after treatment for H.Pylori.
If you look up Cataarh you will see what it is. Its connected to ENT, nasty
thing as well, Solofelix.

Re: Back with a vengence

My symptoms come and go too. I think I may eat something that I maybe shouldn't to cause a lot of it, but sometimes it comes back on for no good reason..

Re: Back with a vengence

Me too. I've tried to track to find out what causes it but can't seem to find a common thread. Although I do have more flare-ups on Monday and Tuesday it seems but my best days always seem to be on the weekend. Monday is always a bad day for me work-wise so I don't know if it's stress or something else. I guess we're just doomed to live "looking over our shoulder" and waiting for the little Monster to sneak up on us. Hope you get to feeling better!

Re: Back with a vengence

I am the same way regarding weekends. Saturday & Sunday are good...then Monday and Tuesday are symptomatic. Commuting to work is stressful, and sitting all day at a desk is just awful. So I believe work- related stresses do play some part in flare ups.

The last 2 days have been hot & humid here...and coincidentally my gassy/sour stomach has returned. :P

Re: Back with a vengence

Don't you just hate it? What do you do for your symptoms when they hit you on Monday/Tuesday? I am lucky enough to work from home so even if I feel pretty bad, I can still work. If I had to go into the office every day, I really don't think I could manage it. Today is one of those "not so bad" days. Not great but not horrible either. Wish I had more of them like today. Hope you feel better soon!
