Although I'm pregnant, my doctor went ahead and did an scope to look at my esophagus and what not. Everytime I eat, I feel like some gets stuck. He went ahead and scoped, and came out with the following results. Some acid reflux and a hiatal hernia. He also stretched my esophagus some. He made it very clear I wouldn't choke on food, and he was able to get a tube down my throat without any problems. My question is, why does is still feel like some doesn't go down? Will it get better with time? Its not as bad as it was, but I can still feel it. It could have a lot to do with me thinking it'll get stuck also. I'm just so lost and hungry!!
Hi, I have the same AR/HIATAL HERNIA. I constantly have the feeling of something like a large marble in my throat and sometimes it is sore as well. I have had this since I was diagnosed over two yrs ago. When I swallow not only do I feel this lump but it also feels very dry and I cough and try to clear it. Ive never known how to get rid of it and would also welcome some advice, thanks Solofelix.
Me too! Me too! Me too! Mine is almost constant and drives me CRAZY! I'm down three sizes in my clothes and it's not a flattering three sizes. I ate yogurt for breakfast, had a pudding cup for lunch and will probably have some mashed potatoes for dinner. Why can't somebody find a fix for this? My throat constantly feels dry although on the other hand, it feels like I have constant drainage. ????????? It's a mystery, I guess.
Yes I do eat, and with being pregnant I can only handle so much of one type of food. I'm tired of feeling like something is stuck, when in reality the one test that can show everything, came out without any problems. I'm confused, and really just want answers.
You need a Barium Swallow, Manometry, and FEEST test to see your swallowing mechanisms. EGD wonít tell you a thing other than if your Esophagus is irritated or possibly narrowing. I would start with the Barium Swallow as thatís the easiest. If that shows no abnormalities then go for the Manomerty. That will reveal everything about how you swallow.
Please get a good GI doctor who is willing to do these tests and understands how to interpret them otherwise your wasting you time.
I had a barium swallow, which showed no foreign object in my throat, and my swallowing was fine. The barium went down without any problems. They saw nothing wrong with that test. I also had a soft tissue x-ray that also came out fine.
They did a barium swallow before they found out I was pregnant. The only way we found out was through blood work. No blood work was done before getting the barium swallow done. Iv seen 2 ENT doctors, 2 GI doctors, 3 ER doctors and my family doctor twice. With the EGD they found acid reflux. Which was my first diagnosis. Iv managed to eat doritos, kit kats and a breakfast bowl. Iv only been on PPI's for a little over a week and was told it could take some time before they fully work. All of these doctors seem to think it is nothing other than acid reflux and a little anxiety. If you ask me, that's a lot of doctors, and a lot of money out of pocket for visits.
