gerd linked to possible canker sores??

hey guys. i have been really stressed about this lately. i have gerd and take omeprazole, if i miss doses or eat beef or alot of fryed food. at night i feel the acid in my mouth or just in the day. about 5-6 months ago i got extremely sore gums. then where it was red and painful it turned a white grey color. just like canker sore. but very big. now its back about. lately i havnt been eating that well and again i have these red sores. worse this time and in the corners of my lips. its all turning white like before. but it looks like big canker sores and are in all the same common places as canker sores. i asked a doctor about it and he instantly jumped to herpes and wrote me a prescription. im pretty offended that hed even think this. i have read every thing i can and it looks just like a big canker sore and has all the same characters.

so is it possible for the acid to rest in your mouth long enough to cause sores?

Re: gerd linked to possible canker sores??

Hi, I also have AR/GERD. I also suffer sore gums on the inner cheeks of my mouth and the sides of my tongue. They can be red and really sore and sometimes there are white patches in the same place. When I have been prescribed NYSTATIN SOLUTION by my Dr they have got better. This treatment is for ORAL THRUSH (CANDIDA) and I wonder if this is what you have. I.am using a mouthwash called ELUDRIL and it has really helped my mouth. I have used it every day for the past month and my gums are almost back to normal. If it is CANDIDA, you should avoid SUGAR at all cost. Good Luck, Solofelix.
