Dr. wantes me to take rantidine twice aday at 300 mg ea-Isn't this too high
Does anyone else take this high a dose.She said if this doesn't work she will put me on prilosec perscription is this the same mg as the one not in the pharmacy.Is 40 mg of prilosec different and better than 600 mg of rantidine?Whats the difference?She said if i'm put on this she has to put me on a high dose of calcium also .Thanks Anne

You have to trust the doc's judgement. It is not an abnormal dosage, nor is it mild dose. The doc may be feeling its an appropriate one.
Prilosec is Omeprezol, which is a protein pump inhibitor or PPI, where as Ranitidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. Both works by controlling acid production, but PPIs are said to be more efficient than the latter for reflux etc.
