Light burning behind sternum
Three months ago I had horrible stomach and chest pain. I was diagnosed with gastritis and GERD and give PPIs. Things have gotten better but I still have light burning sensation in my upper abdomen right behind the sternum. Will go see the GI doctor in a few weeks just wondering has anyone else had same sensation? Thanks

This is a typical symptom of AR/GERD. In my case the pain you describe as burning (I describe as Gnawing) can occur anywhere between the Bellybutton and the Sternum. I was also given PPIs but never took them as they can become addictive (my own choice).
Instead I just take Gaviscon and try to stay with a Healthy diet.
So!.. The answer to your question is Yes it is a typical symptom along with many other ones. Solofelix.
