| nodule on thyroid
My thyroid problem is this...my TSH was at 4.5 and my GP never mentioned it..it was found by an ENT I went to because of trouble swallowing..he found a 3cm nodule (size of golf ball) and a bent trachea...went to an endocrinologist at a medical center who first said..."Hashimotos" and biopsied it 3 times (the nodule) all biopsies came back 'indeterminate'...however this Endo says it is not cancerous...he is now trying to 'shrink' the nodule with synthroid over a 12 week period..I see no signs so far of shrinkage...does anyone know if this can be done with synthroid? Also, why are doctors reluctant to remove the thyroid gland...does it compromise your system to do that? Even though you would be taking synthroid forever?
Has anyone had nodule experience? Either their own, or friend/family? Mine is big enough to give me minor swallowing problems...This Endo is probably a good doctor, but unfortunately is NOT good at answering my questions..so I feel completely uninformed about all this....and the 'indeterminate ' biopsies confuse me...what does that mean? Thanks to all for any help and info.
