LPR and mucus in throat

I really think I have lpr. Still waiting to get in with the ENT. I have a lot of mucus in my throat. Sometimes worse than other times. This morning it is really bad. I actually starting coughing some up and spitting it out, yuck. It was clear. Is the mucus actually your bodies way of protecting the throat from the acid? I wonder if it's good to cough it up. I feel sometimes like I'm being strangled almost and its hard to swallow and breathe because of it. Can anybody relate?

Wink Re: LPR and mucus in throat

I have had it for years. I would see an ent just to be evaluated but honestly if that is what u have it is a chronic condition. I have tried rx ppis twice a day for months with no avail. I have tried apple cider, vitamin d, etc.. it is best to stay away grim milk, caffeine drinks, coffee, etc.. i am fine after laying down but have it after getting up even before drinking anything.
Sometimes ppis work for some people. I have no pain.
Good luck

Yes, I had just the same. I've had surgery now, but still take medication.

I had the same symptoms ro47. I believe that the mucus is a way of protecting the throat. However, make sure you are not confusing acid w/mucus. Sometimes the acid reflux can feel like mucus, because it is not the burning type of acid. I made this mistake. Also, not only is it hard for me to swallow, but to chew as well. My jaw hurts after chewing too much.
