Grade One Esophagitis

I had my endoscopy yesterday and was diagnosed with grade one esophagitis in the lower third of my esophagus. The Nexium I was on was not working round the clock so I've been switched to 60 mg Dexilant. My doctor also found abnormal motility, so he dilated my esophagus. Can the esophagitis cause the motility problems? When the esophagus has healed, will the motility issues go away? I should have asked the doctor yesterday, but was a bit out of it from sedation.

Re: Grade One Esophagitis

Hmmm. No one really knows what causes motility problems. It's possible that fixing the strictures will improve it. If not there are medical options, such as Domperidone. (It's not sold in the US, but you can buy it if your GI prescribes it.)
