Just reporting that last night two friends and I went through a whole bottle of single malt scotch. We got pretty schnockered. This is supposedly a disaster scenario given the apparent TRLESs from alcohol as well as those certain foods, coffee, tobacco, etc... today after dealing with the hangover with ibuprofen and electrolyte water there is a wonderful absence of throat tightness, goop, globus, all of it. So just reporting. I am not advising but if you dare experiment, it might change your LPR world for a little while, or who knows... it could be a terrible idea and you might be real sorry you tried it...I am interested to see what heppens next... if I get a week or more going with continuing relief I will update....
I hadn't had a drink in many weeks leading up to this, and the other conditions were: had no coffee going on several days, twice daily prilosec, and otherwise alkaline diet and being careful to not eat too much, or too soon before bed, blah blah blah...
You know, I do find that rinsing with Listerine helps a lot when my throat gets bad. It might not be the DRINKING alcohol specifically, it might be the debriding effects on the throat as it's swallowed.
Thaks Jane! I will have to look up the word "debriding" now! There's a little comfort in gargling witrh various things, and slippery elm, things like that, but it's a curious situation here. Still holding on and last night I had a much smaller amount of alcohol (it's a celebratory time also as I am going on a voyage soon, one of those times), this time a couple of very weak Martinis.
There was this morning a SLIGHT shift back to the conditions based on eating and swallowing, as if the swallowing mechanism is part of this... things 'stuck' very slightly this morning and I wonder if it's the sort of thing that gets lost under radar with a manomentry test and water but not in practical living... the (truly, I am not thinking hard here just blurting out an idea) theory could be that the alcohol buzz itself knocked some kind of nerve and musclulature habit for a loop. It forgot to tend to spasm or slow the swallowing, or something. It's soooooo sketchy and I will say again I am not advocating anyone 'take up drinkin'' and not go by the diet and lifestyle protocol that is rcommended and works. But... it's still mostly calm and doesn't feel like my usual LPR throat. Also keep in mind the PPIs and diet are still in practice.
