Hi All,
Have a 4th endoscopy scheduled for the 10th. Doctor has asked me to look into a drug called Domperidone online. Was just wondering if anyone has ever tried this med with Barrett's Esophagus.
Thanks all.

Reason: typig in the dark...lol
Domperidone helps to move the food thru your stomach faster, increases motility. There is some thought it increases muscle contraction making the sphincter work better closing off the esophagus from the stomach.
There are some warnings out there on it that you should be aware of, including heart issues depending on the dosage and your age. My doc tried me on it, took it for two days , felt like crap taking it , found the warnings on it and said no thanks. When I went to the specialist he said I didn't need it thankfully. Don't think my issue has every been how fast food moves thru my system.
The predecessor drug to this was Cisapride which my father took I remember, it was removed from the U.S market in 2000 voluntarily as it had issues with heart problems as well.

Katkaru, Were you able to get this? I was told that it was not available as a prescription and was not the real thing online.
Hi Vachilly, Not yet. I have been told it is not FDA approved and not sure if sold in the states. Doc mentioned it and said he a few patients that are doing well with it but I'm sure if I will try. I am afraid it might just make my tachycardia worse. Have you tried it? I received a private msg from another poster that said I should at least try it and if it causes trouble then just stop using. Still confused about it...lol
I will keep all posted on my endoscopy outcome and Domperidone trial.
Low pain and tummy trouble all,

Hi catkaru,
I was prescribed Domperidone for bloating and IBS.
I always have trouble with any medication but this one had NO side effects on me and helped a lot especially with Nausea.
It is available in Ireland where I live and also the UK, on prescription and OTC.
I have taken it on/off for two years and no trouble. Of course it goes without saying everyone reacts different to medication.
I try all medications and if they have bad side effects I dont take them anymore,

Not sure how you get in the U.S.. I am in Canada and it is available here.
Perhaps thru a on line Canadian pharmacy? Just verify it is a reliable source first if you go that route.
That's the problem. I'm not sure a US doctor would write a prescription even if you order it from Canada. If I try to order it straight from Canada, I'm not sure of the purity of the drug. I would love to try it since I have refused Reglan.
Hi there, My question is how do I know it's a good online drugstore. I am currently taking so many meds: Lyrica, Savella, Xanax, Vitorin, Enderal, Flexeril, Tramadol and Nexium. I already have tachacardia. Do think I should still try it? I have been taking the Nexium for at least 9 yrs. By now you would think it is doing nothing to help me but I am hoping it is keeping my Barrett's at bay...giggle! I tried going off it and OMG in about 1 day I was feeling the effects of having acid reflux during the day. At this point I only have it at night when lying down. I know my stomach is not emptying as fast as it should. I don't know how I can go on with this bloating though. I wake up in the morning with an almost flat tummy and with just a glass of water with my meds I start bloating. By the end of the day I look 8 mos pregnant. Not a pretty picture for sure at 58 yrs old. Well thank you for the info. I will probably give it a go and see what happens. Apparently my body does well with most meds....lol
Low acid all,
