That Burping Feeling

Hey everyone,

Just a question for those of who have spontaneous acid reflux (Bad Gerd).

I find that my LES is so loose when I lay on my left side. I will swallow normally and then about 5 seconds later my LES burps back! Not a normal burp, but a uncontrolled gurgle burp in my chest...like a balloon releasing air. I have tried it a million times and the reaction is always the same. In all other positions, sitting standing lying on my back or on my right side, I don't find that I get that exact burping reflex. so weird!

Like a lot of us, I burp all the time. I actually do a sort of hick/burp. It's like a gasp and a burp at the same time. Not sure if this is normal either, but I think it might be due to my Hiatal Hernia.

Does anyone else have the same issues?

Re: That Burping Feeling

Sadgirl, I'm with you. The fluid regurgitation is brutal. At any given time I can do the 'burp' push and get stomach fluid or contents back up. One things for sure, I would have been a great bulimic!

Re: That Burping Feeling

Burping was actually the first symptom I ever had for my reflux. That was in about 2003. I spent a weekend laying paver bricks. Everytime I bent over to lay a brick, there was a belch. Talk about embarrassing. I was able to get it under control with lifestyle changes and meds. It was years later that I developed LPR.
