I have been seeing an ENT for almost 9 months now and Still and having alot of pain when I swallow. Not so much food or drinks I can get all of that down with out any major problems but my throat just hurts every other time I swallow. I have changed my diet, stopped caffine, stopped tobacco products and raised my bed and sleep on a wedge pillow and take dexilant 60 mg in the morning and 20mg OTC PPI in the evening. I have other reflux signs burbing ect.. but none of it is a major problem but my throat is killing and it scares me I may have Throat cancer or something and the ENT is missing it? Is this at all normal is anyone else having this issues with their throat and if so any advice on who I should go see?

Have you had a laryngoscopy? If your doc looked at your throat, he would have noticed any kind of lesions that he would suspect is throat cancer. Think about it, these doctors specialize in diagnosing these illnesses, they would know if something is serious

The sore throat and difficulty swallowing are classic signs of GERD and LPR..When you sleep at night and when you burp after a meal, the acid shoots up into your throat and causes inflammation. That's where you get the soreness and difficulty swallowing

i agree with the others that have said if you had the down the throat scope done anything that was more serious would have been addressed. have you been re-scoped? (my dr upon notice some issues ordered over the counter acid reducer and follow up scope in 3 months) im saying it would seem reasonable to be re scoped. or since there are many different types of acid reducers, it seems the dr would have changed the rx. dont be shy, tell him of your situation and that something must give. or i would suggest finding another specialist.
