Bravo test required?

Guys

In these days of extensive testing, I wanted to see if I really need the bravo test. I have no heartburn or reflux but possibly do have Laryngopharyngeal Reflux (silent reflux). Few questions

1) Can a doc with a regular endoscopy or modified barium swallow tell if I have a hiatal hernia?

2) Is the bravo test still quite uncomfortable? On the boards, I see folks complain about every swallow being a little tough and result in a belch and the constant sensation of something in the esophagus. They also say that even though monitoring is done in 48 hours, the capsule takes 7 days to come off and till it doesn't, it's quite uncomfortable. My doc explained it differently saying once the capsule is attached to my esophagus, I feel nothing at all and perfectly normal

Thanks

Re: Bravo test required?

My hiatal hernia was discovered during a abdominal ct scan which was quit painless. I had even had a endoscope which revealed other things but not a HH. I have had the barium test which also did not find it I have not had the other you mentioned with the camera.
Good luck

Re: Bravo test required?

I had the bravo test last week. It was not that bad. I could fell the capsule while swallowing, but it was not bad. The capsule just felt off today, and I fell my esophagus a little more sensitive.
good luck
