i have LPR ( lump in the throat feeling ) and so i seriously want to have TIF procedure very soon
so please give me your feedback about it
is it worth doing it ??
I had a TIF 1.5 years ago. I have not been on any medicine for reflux after I recovered from the TIF. My DeMeester score went from 28 to 5.8, over 20 is severe. I am drinking coffee, soft drinks, beer and eating anything I want and not having the pain from the reflux. Mine TIF was well worth it.

Did either of you experience heartburn as a symptom? What caused your reflux issues? I am having problems..have been healthy up until 2 months ago and this is driving me crazy....

Hello Tandem
first of all thanks so much for your reply
and i am happy to know that the surgery was worth it, and happy to know that it helped you
but can i have a question please ?
did you experience a feeling of mucus/lump in your throat ??
and did it resolve after the surgery ?
Darkness... how were u diagnosed and what exactly were u diagnosed with? I am trying to figure out why I suddenly have reflux issues...like what could be causing it...its perplexing..
I was on a PPI for 9 years to reduce the stomach acid which eliminated that traditional heart burn for me. I did often have a pain over my sternum and I would get an uncomfortable and anxious feeling when I was refluxing. I would wake up after 3 or 4 hours sleep and be wide awake for a couple of hours. Like yourself, it felt like it was driving me crazy at times.

Hello Sam
i was diagnosed by a device called : pH probe test
which showed that there is acid at my uvula level, especially at night
i was diagnosed to have what is called Laropharngeal reflux ( lpr) where the acid reflux reaches my throat
and my worst symptom was that awful feeling of something stuck in your throat
and actually in my case we discovered that i have reflux just after i made an appendix removal surgery. but i don't think there is a relation with this

the problem is that i don't suffer from heartburn at all
just an awful feeling stuck in my throat, that also can't make me sleep at all
i'm already driven crazy by it.
Thank you for responding...this is all new to me so I'm trying to figure out what might be the cause of my problem...it sounds like I have the same problem as you. Do you have a Hiatal hernia or h-pylori ? What is the underlying cause of the acid going into your throat? What has helped make it go away?
Also..did u have any other symptoms? And how do they do the pH probe test?
no any other symptoms
but usually reflux has many other symptoms.
it's my case that is quit different
anyway the pH probe test is a thin tube that they insert through your nose to reach either your throat or down to the esophegus according to your symptoms and type of reflux you have. then they detect how far does acid reach the tergeted area where this end of the tube has a sensor for pH metere and it send signals wireless to a device outside
this tube will keep in you for 24 hours, then you go back give them the device so they see the records of pH during the day

Hi,
I noticed your post as I was doing further research on surgical intervention to remedy GERD symptoms. We traded posts a few months ago. The last time we talked, you were going in for laparoscopic surgery. How did your surgery go? Did it eliminate your symptoms in the throat?
