Waking Middle of Night STARVING but not hungry.

Does anyone else wake up in the middle of night with this intense hungry feeling but food doesn't help?? I am currently taking Prevacid 15mg in the morning and maybe think I should either increase this or maybe take Pepcid AC at night. Has anyone else experienced this? What helps?

Hi there i had it but it was not always at night,,sometimes i still get it..dont know why i am off ppi's now and hae been for about 4months...its a very strange feeling..dont increase your dosage without talking to doctor first...ppi's can do strange things to people...try drinking some water or having a chamomile tea before bed..it helps...add some manuka or regular honey to it..will make stomach feel better.

I got the hungry feeling all day while I was on prilosec. It can be from the ppi.
Try to take a zantac at night and see if it helps.

Re: Waking Middle of Night STARVING but not hungry.

Niki, if the starving feeling is like hunger pains then it is probably gastritis. The hunger pains are probably pain in the stomach's lining which can be confused with hunger pains. I have had success with taking DGL and splitting my Prilosec to twice a day. The DGL coats the lining and helps with these pains. Slippery Elm is also another supplement that helps. As others have said, try not to eat anything two to three hours before going to bed to minimize the acid in the stomach at bedtime.
