Hi

I went to the doctors today for the third time as I have had:

dry mouth
sore throat/mouth/tongue
bitter metallic taste in mouth
low grade sick feeling

for about 2 months now and it is really getting uncomfortable.
He seems to think it might be acid reflux.
I explained that I don't have chest pain or anything 'coming up'.
He said you don't always have that symptom.
I have been prescribed PPi's and have to go back in a month to
see if things have improved.

Would be really greateful if anybody has any thoughts on this as not sure wether to take the tablets or not.

I have had extremely severe acid reflux, as determined through several reflux tests.

I never had issues with heartburn or the more "typical" reflux symptoms.

Usually when the symptoms are in the throat area you will more often see it called "silent" reflux because you don't feel the acid coming up. You feel the symptoms from the irritation. With your symptoms, it might be worth researching "LPR".

It can't hurt to take the PPI's for a week ....and see if you feel better.

Thanks for both your replies. The LPR looks quite relevant - I really didn't realise that you could have GERD without feeling heartburn. I will give the PPI's a go. Thanks again.
