I had a UTI and finished my round of antibiotics today. I've had acid reflux for about two months now and I've been taking Nexium 20 mg which has been working great for me... until now.
Once I began taking the antibiotics, I've been feeling acid creeping out my throat even though I am taking the Nexium. My throat feels raw and my voice is hoarse. I even increased my dosage to what it originally was: 20 mg twice a day before breakfast and before bed. I still feel like utter poop.
How could antibiotics be causing this problem? Or is it something else?
Antibiotics can mess with your stomach.
My friends all take probiotics now when they have to take antibiotics. Whenever an antibiotic causes tummy trouble for me, I write down the name and tell my doctor not to prescribe that one again.
Ask for an antibiotic that will be easier on your stomach, the doctor will probably have a few in mind.
