| the link between GERD and bowel issues.
Hi, I am just wondering if anyone can help me. I was diagnosed with yeast infection in my colon/intestine following a colonoscopy about 4 yrs ago. But because I had a severe allwrgic reaction to the medication I was never really treated for it. My symptoms were mostly mild and would come and go (mainly very embarring anal itch). I have suffered with constipation for the last 3 yrs despite a very healthy diet (see below).
Last august I started to cough, and symptoms got ptogressively worse with vomitting and nausea, bloating as well as post nasal drip and over salivation. I was diagnosed with GERD last november and have been on nexium since. While it has dealt with above symptoms I now have more severe bloating, flatulence, intermittent pains in my stomach and at times a feeling of total exhaustion takes over along with being tottally chilled to the bone no matter what I do. I blame this on some foods I eat (despite having cut out many) but cant quite pin it on anything. I still suffer from constipation despite eating as follows : breakfast: natural yogourt with pineaple, flaxseed and whey powder, 11am: apple, pear or kiwi, lunch: salad made up of lettuce, raw spinach or rocket leaves, raw broccolli, raw celery, and sometimes avocado or raw carrot sticks and tuna or sardines or feta cheese and olives or chicken or hard boiled egg or cottage cheese. 4pm: rye crackers or rice cakes with humous or fruit and almonds and dinner: lamb/chicken/pork/fish with 2 veg. I also sometimes add lentils, brown rice or quinoa, and have to have 6 prunes twice daily.
My question is as follows why wont any doctor I have been to acknowledge that there must be a link between my GERD and my untreated yeast infection ? The way I look at it if it comes through the same channel it must be linked but they point blank refuse to even discuss this. I have been sent for 2 chest xrays, and some patch testing for allergic reaction to chemicals (but not food intolerances) and waiting for a scope. And while I am still on nexium my symptoms have progressively worsened. I have asked for a candida test and a test for helicobacter bacteria but he wont hear of it either.
My apologies for such long post but I am at my wits end. Has anyone else encountered this, or have same symptoms or any advice please ....thanks.
