How bad is your hoarseness?

It's fine when I awake but as the day goes it gets worse to where I loose it completely. Is this normal with LPR? OR GERD?

Re: How bad is your hoarseness?

I have hoarseness caused by GERD/LPR and have had since August 2012. This is what finally caused me to seek surgery for the acid reflux that no meds or lifestyle changes would alleviate.

The more you talk the more stress/strain on your vocal cords. Have you heard of singers who are fighting an illness who don't talk several days before a performance? I am certainly no expert and only speaking from my own experiences, but I notice that Mondays seem to be the best talking day (don't talk as much when not at work on weekends) and by the end of the week I'm much more hoarse than I was previously.

I am still hoarse after a nissen and am told it will take 4 - 6 months for vocal cords to heal.

good luck!
