I'm wondering what the general consensus is about cold or hot water for washing? Could anyone who reads this kindly respond with what water temp. they use for washing?
I use warm to wash and then splash with cold when I'm done. A long time ago my mom told me that the cold will close pores, don't know if it's true or not tho.
I agree with Goodnightelizabeth. You should use lukewarm water all of the time. The key is to treat your skin gently, and not shock it with extreme temperatures. Hot water also has the danger of causing broken capillaries. Cold water cannot close the pores; that's a myth. Pores cannot open and close.
Yes i agree that we should use lukewarm water, but I also heard that hot towel/cold towel presses are effective. I always thought the hot towel opens the pores then the cold towel closes them?
I will go with the lukewarm water washing with a splash of cold at the end. Seems I've been using very hot water recently because of the extremely cold temps here in the northeast US. Gotta break the habit I guess. Thanks for all your insights.
