Zinc has been shown to be as effective as tetracycline in the treatment of acne. Low serum zinc and retinol-binding protein have been demonstrated in acne patients. Other vitamins have been shown to be effective, such as Vitamin A and Vitamin E.

What do you think is causing the mineral and nutrient deficiencies in people with acne so that supplementation is necessary for improvement of acne symptoms? Genes? I do not think so. For a nutritional supplement protocol refer to my post "Acne is caused by diet."
