help!

My 16 yo son has been on accutane twice and has severe cystic acne. Nothing is working!! We are on week 16 of the second round of accutane and saw the ped dr this morning - who said he was seeing no improvement.
We have decided to pull him off the acctaune today.

What natural remedies can we try for him? Anything?

Thanks in advance!!
Tammy

Re: help!

Oh yes there is. My thread on "Acne is caused by diet" has a supplement regimen and a diet protocol on there. It is basically a non processed food diet, and the supplement regimen has shown remarkable results in a small amount of time on me and those I know. There are studies that show mineral supplements like zinc to be equally as effective as antibiotics. I would try the supplement regimen because it addresses much more in the way of nutrient deficiencies, essential fatty acid balance, and toxin removal. It is a real carpet bomb for acne. Do that along with the diet.

It would be best to disregard the beta-carotene since your son has taken accutane.

For cystic acne, I would recommend zinc (50mg/day) and try eliminating food groups from diet (ie. breads/pastas/high carbs)

Re: help!

Sorry to hear that about your son. Listen to sunfell and AA. I would only add that pantothenic acid has helped me tremendously, as well as others on the board, and it may allow your son to find a balance between improved diet and taking supplements that he'll find effective.
