Question about retin-a micro and shaving...

For the last few months, I have been applying my retin-a micro after shaving in the evenings. I am male, obviously. Anyways, I was wondering if this is a bad idea. My face always tends to be itchy and very dry and I was thinking that perhaps it would be better if I shaved in the morning and used a moisturizer afterwards and just applied the retin-a after washing my face in the evening.

I hope this doesn't sound too stupid. I'm tired. Anyways, does anyone have any advice on this? Is it a bad idea to use the retin-a after shaving due to the fact that it dries the skin?

Thanks.

Re: Question about retin-a micro and shaving...

Hi i have been on regular retin-a for about 3 years and used to do what you are doing now. I used to shave at nights and then put on retin-a. I changed that though and i find for myself that when you shave in the morning and then put on a moisturizer, my skin is not as dry during the day so you might want to try it. Goodluck.

Re: Question about retin-a micro and shaving...

I've never used Retin A but I do know that shaving promotes dryness so it's best to moisturise after doing so. Try to find an anti-bacterial moisturiser designed for shaving. And stick to shaving in the morning. That way your skin will get the beneift of the fresh air and lack of contact on it. At night you go to bed and smear around (on the pillow, for example) any bacteria that was brought up to the surface by shaving. I'm sure just washing your face and applying the Retin A will have just as much effect as it does with shaving.
