Smile *Adkins diet and my Acne*

I have been battling this acne stuff for the last several years. (started getting bad at age 22 or so, now i am almost 28) Anyway i have tried it all. except accutane and spiro. I am not overweight, however wanted to lose maybe 10 lbs. so when my Hubby decided to try the Adkins diet, i went along with him. since then in only a week and a half i have lost 7 lbs. and feel great. more energy, i am eating lots of stuff that i really like. (bacon, eggs, cheese, sausage, steak, etc.) also my skin is really clear. i am even at that time of the month where i would usually have at least a couple of cysts. Ihave had no breads, cereals, crackers, sugar, milk, chocolate. I think that the sugar has alot to do with it. Just thought i would share what seems to be helping my skin and body!!

The exact opposite happened to me...... all my life I never suffered acne..... however about 3 years ago at the age of 32 I went on the atkins diet and two weeks later I started having acne and have been battling it now for 3 years......

wow..really?? i guess we are all different. Are you still on the Adkins-low carb diet? I know that before i went on adkins i ate ALOT of sugar and milk. and really alot of junk. I am sorry to hear that your skin did the opposite. how much weight did you lose and did you keep it off? thanks!!

I'm so with you on this one. Isn't it amazing how good you feel knowing that all you had to do was tweek your diet???

I'm sorry to hear that for some this isn't always the answer. It could be a detoxing effect or it could be that you threw your hormones out of balance. Or maybe it was just "time" Meaning your hormones were heading out of balance anyway. Acne can be TRIGGERED at any stage in life so you might want to visit an endocrinologist and see just where your hormones are at.

Mightymomma, I and others, are finally lucky enough to have found a way to balance our (male) hormones through diet (I use spiro too though) and it's had the BIGGEST impact on my skin (and elimnated my menstrual pains) over anything else I've used. =)
