prednasone

well...i never had any serious skin problems...just the usual pimples as a kid and such...so i'm pretty ignorant on treatment for this problem...but i was given prednasone(sp?) for a stubborn cold that still won't go away (a whole other story)...not sure if it had any effect for the cold but i noticed that it was super for my skin...my cheeks got so smooth people remarked on it...a rash i had for years (just a simple jock rash from living in the florida heat that i never worried about) disappeared...this is probably a well known treatment for skin problems that everyone knows...but just in case it's not i'm throwing it out here

Re: prednasone

I've never heard of it. But I'd imagine it's an antibiotic since you were perscribed it for your persistent cold. Antibiotics are used for the treatment of acne and my guess is there was something in the tablets that killed off acne causing bacteria in your system. Thanks for suggesting it

Re: prednasone

I was given prednasone when i first started accutane because my skin was out of control. It worked almost instantly to bring down the swelling of my acne but i was only given a week's worth of medication at a time, because from what i understood, it is a very strong drug that shouldn't be taken for long periods of time. I was very happy with the results of taking prednasone and it did give me really smooth skin, but unfortunately, it only lasted as long as i took it.

Re: prednasone

It is a steroid that shouldn't be taken for long periods of time. It made my skin look great too the time I had it for an allergic reaction to a bee sting.
