accutane dosage and timing questions

A couple questions:

I weigh about 130 lbs which translates into .5 mg per kilo=30 mg and 1 mg per kilo=60 mg.

My derm started me off on 40 mg once per day for a month.

This month I am taking 50 mg once per day for a month.

He said that it would be better to take the pills at 12 hour intervals instead of 24 hour intervals .. yet he still prescribed me the once a day of 50 mg.

Can someone clear me up on what is the best way to take accutane and if once a day is fine? Or is it much better to take it twice a day divided into two doses?

Also, how high should I be letting my derm prescribe me in mg? I think he said eventually he may put me on 80 mg. Isn't that a lot??

Let me know.

I think that it depend on your doctor. I am female. I weigh a little under 110 lbs and my doctor has me on 4omg. I don't think I'll let him raise the dosage. This amount seems to be more than enough.

Re: accutane dosage and timing questions

I would go 40mg per day in two doses of 20mg for 1 month then up it to 50-60mg a day in two doses. (one 20mg pill in morning, two 20mg pill at night). This in consideration with your weight of ~130lbs.

Ideally you should space the accutane out in even time frames, spreading it out in two doses is preferable to only one dose a day.

Re: accutane dosage and timing questions

how important is it that I spread out my dosage?

Because this entire month I will be taking 1 40 mg tablet and 1 10 mg tablet at dinner (once per day)

Is this something to worry about??
