I am 40 years old. Isn't is considered a little unusual that I would get a pinmple here and there mainly around the forehead area this late in life? I know that I sleep with makeup on most of the time, but I never thought a pimple would become of that! Any thoughts?
I asked my derm the same question, though it was about the acne on my back. She says she's seeing more and more women in their 30s and 40s getting acne -- she doesn't know why.
You definitely need to wash the makeup off before going to bed. Wearing makeup to sleep is very bad, IMO. I used to neglect to wash my face properly around the forehead, underneath my bangs (way-back-when in the 80s when bangs were cool ... ha ha), before bedtime, and I would get breakouts there. When I started to wash more thoroughly, the breakouts there stopped.
Best of luck.

i'm in my 30's and the only makeup i wear is eyeliner and masscara, and i wash my face with clearasil every night before going to bed and i still get pimples. i was always told that if you touch your face alot with your hands then it would cause more acne, dont know if there is any truth to that but when you make an effort to keep your hands off your face, you will be surprised at how many times you actually touch your face in a days time.
Just a thought - but if they are around your hairline, then it could be sebhorreic dermatitis, is your skin ever flakey in that area? If it is then try using a shampoo like Nizoral or anti-dandruff (even if you don't have dandruff).
It's not only women either, I'm a 51yr old male. I had it from age 17 to 22. Then maybe a pimple 2 times a year until age 39 then wham ! Cystic acne ,only a milder case than before. Went on accutane and there after it was mild for about 2yrs. Then it starts again at age 49. I've seen two derms and both have said they see quite a few male patients in their fortys and fiftys. I asked if it was hormonal ( I do have pretty high libido) but she said not in males usually only in females. They really don't know but think it's probably genetics or stress .She also said she's never heard of it with someone in their sixties. Great eh? You have to wait until you're 60 to "grow out of it". The good news is I think it's starting to go into remission again. I can go a week without breakin out, then it's only two or three and they seem to be healing quicker.
